GWIS- Graduate Women in Science

I chose to research Graduate Women in Science for my organization. ¬†GWIS was formed in 1921, one year after women gained the right the vote, by a group of women graduate students from Cornell University. The primary mission of this organization is “to advance the participation and recognition of women in science and to foster research through grants, awards, and fellowships.” ¬†There are 1500 members in 17 chapters across the United States. I think that Amy Vedder would definitely support this organization because shares her hopes of expanding scientific research and knowledge, but I’m not sure if she would become a member of it.
